Our Company

Craft, care, and considered teaching.

Peranakan Capital was founded on the belief that sound financial understanding, built carefully over time, is one of the most enduring things a person can carry into later life.

Our Story

Where Peranakan Capital began

Peranakan Capital was established in 2018 by a small group of financial educators who had spent years working in wealth management, retirement planning, and adult education across Singapore. What motivated them was not a gap in the market but a gap in the conversation — a sense that mid-life Singaporeans, many of them highly capable professionals, were entering the years closest to retirement without the structured knowledge to navigate CPF, SRS, estate planning, or even family money conversations with confidence.

The name was chosen deliberately. Peranakan craftsmanship — meticulous, layered, the product of generations of refinement — seemed the right metaphor for how financial understanding should develop. Not rushed. Not reduced to slogans. Built piece by piece, with attention to the particular circumstances of each learner.

We have remained deliberately small. Our courses are capped at twelve participants per cohort so that questions are genuinely addressed. Our instructors are practitioners first and teachers second. We do not sell financial products. We take no commissions. The only thing we offer is knowledge, and we take considerable care over how it is delivered.

Over the years our learner community has grown through word of mouth — colleagues recommending courses to colleagues, adult children enrolling parents, spouses attending together. That kind of recommendation is not something we take lightly.

Our Mission

To give mid-life learners the financial understanding they deserve.

Not in a rushed seminar. Not through product brochures. Through structured, unhurried courses taught by people who know the material and care about whether learners actually leave with it.

Our Values

  • Integrity without exception

We do not sell products. Our advice serves no agenda beyond your understanding.

  • Respect for the learner

Adults learn best when they are treated as capable, experienced individuals — not as empty vessels.

  • Grounded in Singapore

Every course addresses real Singapore instruments, regulations, and social contexts.

Standards

How we hold ourselves accountable

No Commission Structure

We are a pure education provider. Neither the institution nor its instructors receive fees, commissions, or referral arrangements from any financial products or services.

Qualified Instructors

All course instructors hold relevant professional qualifications and maintain current knowledge of Singapore regulatory frameworks and CPF policies.

Small Cohort Policy

Cohorts are capped at twelve participants. This is not a marketing claim — it is a structural commitment to ensure every learner's questions are properly addressed.

Annual Curriculum Review

Course materials are reviewed annually against current CPF Board policies, MAS guidelines, and changes to Singapore tax legislation to ensure accuracy throughout.

Data Privacy

Learner information is held in accordance with the Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA) Singapore. Data is never shared with or sold to third parties under any circumstances.

Post-Course Feedback

Each cohort submits an anonymous evaluation at close. This feedback directly informs the following cohort's delivery. We have read every form submitted since 2018.

About Our Work

Financial education in Singapore for those with the most to plan for

The decade between forty and fifty is, for many Singaporeans, the period when financial decisions carry the greatest long-term consequence. CPF contributions reach maturity. Family wealth conversations become necessary. Investment decisions made — or deferred — during these years shape the retirement that follows.

Peranakan Capital addresses this period directly. Our three programmes correspond to three areas where clarity matters most: conversations within the family about shared finances; the foundational knowledge needed to invest with consideration rather than anxiety; and the detailed mechanics of CPF LIFE for those approaching election age.

Our courses draw on Singapore-specific regulatory frameworks, cultural contexts, and the particular concerns of those who came of professional age before financial education was widely available. We approach each cohort as a gathering of experienced adults — not students beginning from nothing, but people who have accumulated experience and now wish to organise it into a coherent framework.

We are located at 1 Wallich Street in Tanjong Pagar. We also offer all programmes via live online delivery for learners based across Singapore. Enquiries are welcome by phone at +65 6847 1253 or by email at [email protected].
