Learning environment for mid-life learners

Why Choose Us

What makes the difference,
and why it matters to us.

There is no shortage of financial content in Singapore. What is rarer is content designed with genuine care for the learner who is sitting in front of it.

Our Advantages

Six things that distinguish our approach

Commission-free educators

No instructor at Peranakan Capital receives any product commission or referral fee. Advice given in class serves no purpose beyond your understanding.

Small cohorts, real dialogue

Every cohort is capped at twelve. This is a structural limit, not a preference. It means questions receive genuine attention rather than a scheduled answer at the end.

Singapore-specific curriculum

CPF, SRS, HDB-linked finances, and family structures shaped by Singapore's multi-generational norms — the content addresses what is actually relevant here.

Practical materials you keep

Workbooks, worksheets, and projection templates are designed for use after the course ends. They are yours to refer to, share with family, and return to over the years.

Experienced practitioners

Instructors bring professional careers in financial planning, portfolio management, and family counselling. Theory is framed through practice, not the other way round.

Annually reviewed content

Each curriculum is reviewed against current CPF Board and MAS guidance once a year. What you learn will reflect the rules as they currently stand in Singapore.

In Detail

Professional expertise, applied to adult learning

Financial knowledge and teaching skill are not the same thing. Our instructors hold both. Lim Hwee Keng brings over twenty years of retirement planning practice. Rajan Nair is a CFA charterholder with a background in investor education. Tan Wei Lin combines financial planning qualifications with formal training in family counselling.

Crucially, all three have spent years working with clients in their forties and fifties — they understand not just the subject matter but the context in which learners are approaching it.

What this means for you

  • Questions answered with field-tested knowledge, not textbook theory

  • Examples drawn from Singapore professional and family contexts

  • Sensitivity to the real decisions you face, not hypothetical scenarios

Our delivery approach

  • Cohorts of no more than twelve, in-person and online

  • Weekly cadence matches working-life rhythms — not intensive retreats

  • Materials dispatched before sessions so learners arrive prepared

  • Post-session summaries capture key decisions and personal notes

A programme structure designed for real lives

All three courses run on a weekly session format — typically two hours per week — rather than as compressed weekend intensives. This is a deliberate choice. Financial topics benefit from time to settle, to be discussed with family, and to be revisited with fresh questions the following week.

Online delivery mirrors the in-person experience as closely as possible. Discussion groups are live, not pre-recorded. Materials are printed and posted in advance of each week's session.

A standard of service that feels personal

You will receive a written confirmation with full course details within one working day of enquiry. You will speak to a person, not a chatbot. If you have a question between sessions, it will be answered — not queued for the next class.

After the course, the relationship does not end. Learners are welcome to contact us with follow-up questions for six months after completion, at no additional charge.

Service commitments

  • Enquiry response within one working day

  • Named point of contact from enrolment through completion

  • Six months of follow-up access after course close

  • Deferral to next cohort with no penalty up to one week prior

What's included in every course

  • All weekly sessions (5–8 weeks depending on course)

  • Printed workbook and reference materials

  • Specialist Q&A sessions (where applicable)

  • Certificate of completion

  • Six months post-course access to instructor for questions

Transparent pricing, no hidden charges

Course fees cover everything listed in the course description. There are no separate materials fees, no premium tier with additional access, and no follow-on products to purchase after completion.

We have no incentive to sell you anything beyond the course itself. That clarity is, in our view, part of what a sound financial education should model.

Outcomes measured in understanding, not performance

We do not measure results by investment returns — that would be inappropriate for an education provider. We measure them by the quality of decisions our learners report making after completing a course. Post-course surveys consistently show that over nine in ten learners feel substantially more confident addressing the topic area within six months.

More telling is the word-of-mouth pattern: close to half of all new enrolments each quarter come through learner referrals.

What learners report after completing

  • Clearer understanding of CPF LIFE election timing

  • More confident conversations with family about shared finances

  • Ability to evaluate investment options without relying on a salesperson

  • Reduced anxiety around financial decisions at mid-life

Distinctive Features

What only we offer

Family Conversation Templates

Our Family Wealth Conversations course includes templates specifically designed for Singapore family structures — covering CPF nomination discussions, shared household ledgers, and aged parent financial planning — in a format that can be used at the dinner table, not just in a seminar room.

CPF LIFE Personal Projection Worksheet

The CPF LIFE course includes a structured worksheet that guides each learner through their own payout projections under each scheme option, factoring in their personal CPF balances, target election age, and bequest considerations. No other provider offers this as a guided class exercise.

Small-group discussion format

Each week closes with a facilitated discussion rather than a quiz or assessment. These discussions are consistently cited by learners as the most valuable part of the course — hearing how peers at the same life stage approach identical questions opens perspectives no lecture can replicate.

No-obligation preliminary conversation

Before any enrolment, we offer a fifteen-minute call with a programme director to discuss your situation and whether a course is genuinely the right next step. We will tell you honestly if it is not. This is not a sales call.
